So about those breakup rumours. Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet showed up Monday night looking like a pair of traffic cones and apparently couldn’t have been happier about it.
This was December 8th at the Marty Supreme premiere in Los Angeles. Both of them wore matching bright orange Chrome Hearts outfits. Not subtle orange. Proper in-your-face orange.
Timothée Chalamet was wearing an orange leather suit over an orange silk shirt, along with orange boots. He also has a black leather ping pong paddle case slung over his shoulder, which makes sense because the movie is about table tennis. Came back a bit daft-looking, though.
Kylie Jenner went bigger. Floor-length orange gown with cutouts at the waist. The gown featured a deep V neckline. Orange heels. Orange nails. Even her makeup was in orange hues. The woman went all in.
Here’s why this matters. People have been talking for weeks about whether they’d split up. Nobody had seen them together since October, when they went to a Yankees game. Then Chalamet gave an interview to Vogue where he basically told them to sod off when they asked about the relationship.
Said, “I will not talk about that,” and that was that.
Not exactly the sort of thing that makes people think you’re still together, is it?
But Monday night sorted that out. They posed on the red carpet with their arms around each other, both grinning like idiots. No hiding. No awkward distance. Just two people who are clearly still dating and want everyone to know it.
This was only the second time Kylie Jenner’s been on a red carpet with him. The first time was back in May at some awards thing in Rome.
They’ve been together since spring 2023, but she keeps it pretty quiet. Doesn’t post photos of himself on Instagram. Hasn’t talked about him on The Kardashians. Just shows up at his big events and that’s about it.
She’s been to the Golden Globes with him. The BAFTAs. The Oscars when he was nominated for playing Bob Dylan. Now this premiere. So she’s clearly supporting him, just not broadcasting it all over social media.
Marty Supreme is getting a lot of attention. Timothée Chalamet already has nominations for Best Actor from the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards. It is directed by Josh Safdie, who also made Uncut Gems. Inspired by an American table tennis player named Marty Reisman. Comes out on Christmas Day.
Gwyneth Paltrow was there too. She’s in the film. Tyler, the Creator showed up. Halsey. Even MrBeast made an appearance for whatever reason. Proper big Hollywood event.
The coordinated outfits thing is interesting because it’s such a statement. You can’t accidentally wear matching bright orange with your boyfriend unless you’re saying something. And what they’re saying is fairly clear. Yeah, we’re still together. Yeah, we planned this. What about it?
Not everyone could pull off that much orange. Most people would look like they were directing traffic or collecting rubbish. But when you’re two of the most photographed people in the world, apparently, you can just wear whatever you want, and people call it fashion.
The photos from the night show them looking genuinely happy. Not fake red carpet happy. Actually happy. Laughing together. Comfortable with each other. The sort of body language you can’t really fake when there are fifty cameras pointed at you.
Whether they’ll last, who knows? Celebrity relationships are weird. But for now, they’re clearly still going, and they’re not being subtle about it anymore.
The orange outfits made that perfectly clear. You couldn’t miss them if you tried. Which was probably the point.
