4th December 2025 – Ruby Wax became the fifth celebrity out of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! leaving both campmates and viewers in shock last night. The 72-year-old comedienne was sent home on Wednesday night’s results show after landing in the bottom two against Lisa Riley. Hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly revealed Ruby had polled the least number of votes from viewers, bringing her jungle journey to an end.
“I can’t believe it; I’m in shock,” Ruby said tearfully to her fellow campmates as she got ready to go. The Australian jungle had only been her home for 18 days, but the comedian and writer was already a fan favourite, winning with her sharp wit and playful antics.
Fans Demand a Recount
Social media erupted after the announcement. Viewers flooded Twitter and Instagram with messages of shock and disappointment.

“I’m actually shocked it was Ruby. She’s such a big part of the camp,” one viewer wrote. Another added, “Ruby leaving has shocked me omg!”
Even The Traitors star Paloma Faith weighed in, posting, “WTF she was surely going to win?”
Multiple fans called for a recount, with one person declaring Ruby “the people’s princess”. Some simply posted, “This is a joke.”
Her Brief Reign as Camp Leader
She donned a hastily Ruby had been voted camp leader by a landslide just days earlier on 30th November. made a crown and immediately flexed her newfound authority, demanding Shona McGarty become her footstool and appointing Aitch as her jester.
Jack Osbourne called it “pure insanity” and “the craziest dictatorship the world will ever know.“ But Ruby’s playful tyranny was all in good fun. She admitted to getting away with plenty, including gobbling all the liquorice allsorts. “The charm,” she explained when asked how she managed it.
After her elimination, Ruby reflected on her time in camp. “I was in another land, it was fantasy land, and now suddenly there’s a light,” she told Ant and Dec. “We were just a cluster of loving people. This is family, and I’m sad I lost them.”
Celebrity Stories and Camp Bonds
During her jungle stint, Ruby entertained viewers with stories about her infamous celebrity encounters. She’d previously interviewed Madonna in what she called a “car crash” sit-down, and famously got kicked off Donald Trump’s private plane in the late 90s after laughing when he said he wanted to become President.
Ruby Wax formed particularly close bonds with rapper Aitch and social media star Angry Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle. “I don’t know why I was drawn to them, but we had so much in common,” she said. “I knew I would be friends with them.”
She predicted that Angry Ginge would ultimately win the series. “When they do experiments with people, suddenly everyone gets in their place,” she reflected on the camp dynamics.
Who’s Still in the Running
Ruby’s departure leaves eight celebrities still competing for the jungle crown. She follows Alex Scott, Eddie Kadi, Vogue Williams, and Kelly Brook as the fifth person eliminated from this year’s series.
Kelly had left just the night before, on Tuesday, 2nd December. Before departing, Kelly revealed she and Angry Ginge had secretly eaten 20 milk bottles after a Dingo Dollars challenge, not the 13 they’d claimed.
Still in the running are Lisa Riley, Martin Kemp, Shona McGarty, Jack Osbourne, Aitch, Angry Ginge, Tom Read Wilson, and one other remaining campmate. The final is expected to air on Sunday, 8th December at 9 pm.
What’s Next for Ruby
Ruby won’t have much time to rest after her jungle experience. She’s already announced a UK tour titled “Ruby Wax: Absolutely Famous” starting 25th March 2026 in Henley on Thames and running through 7th July with a final performance in Bristol.
The show will see Ruby join forces with her long-time friend and producer, Clive Tulloh, to reflect on clips from their previous shows as well as tell never-before-heard scandalous stories to audiences.
Throughout her life and career, the comedian has been public about her experiences with bipolar disorder and depression. In 2010, she created a BBC documentary series on mental health and has written several bestselling books on the topic, including “Sane New World” and “A Mindfulness Guide for the Frazzled”. She was a campmate for a short time, but she sure left her mark.
She completed the Misfortune Tellers Bushtucker trial on 1st December, winning five meals for camp by retrieving keys from boxes filled with critters and snakes.
“I was the queen; how can she be abducted?” Ruby joked after learning of her elimination. Classic Ruby until the very end.
