Michael Jackson Biopic Gets Major Rewrite

What  Happened?

The biopic Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua, has been heavily reworked with a completely new ending.

$15 Million Reshoots

The production spent $10–15 million on reshoots, with 22 extra filming days to rebuild the final act.

The original ending included 1993 abuse allegations, but a legal clause prevented portraying the accuser forcing a rewrite.

Why the Change?

Instead of controversy, the film now ends on a positive note, showing Jackson at the peak of his career during the Bad tour. The narrative now highlights his relationship with his father, played by Colman Domingo.

Who Plays Michael?

Jackson is portrayed by his real-life nephew Jaafar Jackson, marking his film debut.

Release Update

Originally set for 2025, the film is now scheduled to release on April 24, 2026, after delays caused by the reshoots.
