Look, I get it. You’re scrolling on Instagram, and you see some actor having dinner in a posh London restaurant, and you think: Wait, where do these people even live? So, you’re not alone. I’ve lived in and around these areas long enough to give you the proper answer to: where do famous celebrities live in London?
This is the thing about London as opposed to, say, Los Angeles. Our celebrities aren’t living in gated compounds on hills. They live on normal streets. Yes, exorbitantly expensive regular streets, but still.
You could walk right past David Beckham’s house and have no idea if you didn’t know what you were looking for. That’s rather the whole point.
Holland Park Is Absolutely Mental
Right, so Holland Park. This place is bonkers expensive. We’re talking houses that cost more than most people earn in ten lifetimes. The Beckhams paid upwards of £31.5 million for their massive spread back in 2013, before spending a year or two doing the place up.
That’s Victoria and David, for you. You’ve also got Elton John somewhere around there, Simon Cowell, Robbie Williams, Ed Sheeran, and Richard Branson. Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin lives there too.
Just take a walk down any street near 23 Holland Park, London, and you will see what I am talking about. Gigantic white houses, perfectly manicured hedges, and gates that I’m sure cost more than my car.
But nobody’s waiting outside to take selfies. Londoners just don’t really care that much. We see someone famous and think, “Oh, alright then,” and carry on with our day.
West London’s Where Everyone Wants To Be
Kensington, Chelsea, and Notting Hill are the areas of West London that have many celebrities living there. Always has been, probably always will be.
The houses are gorgeous, those white terraced ones you see in every British film. They cost an absolute packet, but if you’ve got the money, why wouldn’t you?
Harry Styles might live somewhere around Clapham way, but he gets around a bit. Notting Hill is still popular, even though it’s a ‘tourist trap’ during carnival. Kate Moss has been in Highgate for ages.
These neighbourhoods work because they have everything from shops and restaurants to parks and decent schools. And they are actually pretty central so you don’t have to sit in traffic for hours to get anywhere.
The Quieter Option Up North
St. John’s Wood doesn’t get talked about as much, but loads of celebrities live there. Paul McCartney’s been there forever. Keith Richards, Ewan McGregor, and Lily Allen at one time. It’s more peaceful than Holland Park, more like a real neighbourhood where people have relationships with one another.
My mate lives near there and says you’ll definitely see a famous person in the local coffee shop about once a week. Nobody bothers them, though. That’s the whole appeal.
You can be ludicrously famous and still pop to Waitrose without people filming you as you buy some milk. Where do most celebrities live in UK? Honestly, places where they can just be normal when they want to be.
American Stars Keep Moving Here
Something’s changed over the past few years. More American celebrities living in London than ever before. Johnny Depp here loads. Various Hollywood types have at least got places here even if they’re not here full-time.
They’re coming for the same reasons British celebrities stay: privacy laws are stricter, people leave you alone, the paparazzi aren’t as aggressive, and your kids can go to school without being followed around.
Plus, London’s genuinely international. You can fly anywhere, there’s theatre and culture everywhere, and the city actually functions. Trying to get across Los Angeles without a car can’t be done. Here, you just hop on the Tube.
Richmond For Families
Richmond’s different. It’s still London, still expensive, but you get actual space. Proper gardens, parks, and the river.
Richmond Park is massive, as you can see deer just wandering about. For celebrities with children, this makes sense. You’re giving up being in the centre of everything, but your kids can play outside and go to normal schools.
My cousin teaches at a school near there and says parents’ evening sometimes includes meeting someone you’ve seen on telly. But everyone just acts normal because that’s what you do.
The kids don’t even really care most of the time, which must be quite nice for the parents.
What About Finding Celebrities Who Live in London 2025?
Here’s the honest truth: you probably won’t see celebrities by hunting for them. You’ll see them because you’re in the same restaurant, or queuing at the same shop, or walking through the same park. That’s how London works.
Some tour companies do routes around celebrity areas, and fair enough, the houses are beautiful to look at. But you won’t get exact addresses, which is probably right. These are people’s homes.

Just don’t be that person hanging about outside someone’s house with a camera. Nobody likes that person.

Then there’s practical stuff. London’s an actual city where things work. You can walk places. There’s public transport. You don’t need to drive everywhere or have security following you around constantly.
You can have a relatively normal life alongside being famous, which in Los Angeles or New York seems much harder.
The areas I’ve mentioned, such as Holland Park, Kensington, Chelsea, St. John’s Wood, and Richmond, are genuinely lovely places to live. Beautiful houses, good schools, nice restaurants, and actual communities.
They attract successful people because they’re the best addresses in one of the world’s best cities. The celebrity thing is almost secondary.
Where It All Comes Together
So, where do famous celebrities live in London today? Same places as wealthy non-famous people, mostly. They want the same things everyone wants: nice houses, good schools, decent neighbours, and privacy. They’ve just got more money to make it happen.
What’s interesting about London is that it lets famous people switch between being celebrities and being normal humans. They can go to a premiere one night and buy groceries the next morning without drama. That flexibility, that balance, is probably worth more than any fancy house.
These postcodes stay popular because they work. They’re central enough to be convenient, residential enough to feel safe, and expensive enough to keep them exclusive.
But mostly they’re popular because Londoners treat celebrities like anyone else. We’re too busy getting on with our own lives to bother them about theirs. And honestly? That’s exactly how it should be.
